About the Institute

Institute Building

Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE), established in 1957 by philanthropist Late Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar, is a Government Aided Autonomous Institution affiliated with Anna University, Chennai, and approved by AICTE. TCE offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs in Engineering, Architecture, and Science. Situated in a serene, eco-friendly campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure, TCE embraces continuous reforms in teaching and learning processes. Key initiatives include Competency-Based Curriculum, Outcome-Based Education, and the adoption of the CDIO framework in 2018, providing hands-on training to students. In 2021, TCE introduced Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to enhance digital learning.TCE maintains active collaborations with leading global organizations, resulting in industry-oriented curriculum design, advanced laboratories, professional training programs, internships, and placements. The institution also engages in sponsored research projects funded by AICTE, DST, DRDO, and UGC, supporting innovative technologies and advanced research facilities. TCE's dedication to excellence is further highlighted by the Thiagarajar Research Fellowship (TRF) for Ph.D. scholars and its NAAC accreditation with a CGPA of 3.56 (out of 4.0), earning an A++ Grade in Cycle 2.

About the Department

The Department of Chemistry was established in 1957, concurrently with the college's founding. Recognized as a research centre by Anna University, the department has received support from DST, SERB, MOEF & CC, and the Government of India. Notably, it holds the college's first patent for the innovative "PLASTIC TAR ROAD" technology and has obtaineded patent for using plastics in developing alternate fuels. Our department is proud to be led by esteemed faculties, including the illustrious Dr. R. Vasudevan, a recipient of the prestigious Padmashri award. The department is equipped with four state-of-the-art laboratories: Polymer/Plastic Tar Road Research Lab, Advanced Materials Research Lab, Functional Materials Lab, Chemistry Laboratories and three Centre of Excellence including Centre for Sustainability and Centre of Excellence in hydrogen energy research. Its research focuses on areas such as Solid Waste Management, Plastic Waste Recycling, Green Chemistry, Materials for Energy and Environmental Applications. The department's research facilities have attracted scholars and industry experts, with several Ph.D. scholars currently working under the TRF fellowship.

About the Conference

The International Conference on Innovations in Sustainable Technologies for Energy, Environment, and Healthcare (ICISTEEH-26) is a premier global forum dedicated to advancing science, engineering, and policy discourse in sustainability. This conference brings together leading experts, researchers, industry practitioners, and innovators to share the latest breakthroughs and emerging trends in sustainable technologies across the energy, environment, and healthcare sectors. The 2026 edition of ICISTEEH will emphasize the integration of clean and renewable energy technologies including solar, wind, bioenergy, and hydrogen with cutting-edge developments in smart energy storage, grid integration, and decarbonization approaches. In the environmental arena, discussions will focus on innovative solutions for air and water purification, waste management (solid and hazardous), climate change mitigation, carbon capture, circular economy initiatives such as plastic recycling and development of sustainable solutions for healthcare.

ICISTEEH-26 is designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and global partnerships, promoting the exchange of knowledge and the co-creation of innovation-driven sustainable solutions. The conference program includes plenary keynote lectures, invited talks, technical paper sessions, poster presentations, panel discussions, and exhibitions. Outcomes from ICISTEEH-26 are expected to inform sustainable development policies and guide technological roadmaps that support international climate and health objectives, driving progress toward a more sustainable and resilient future.
